Frontier is bad. They cancel their flights and won't give you a replacement flight from other companies. Although this becomes common, but it is a severe problem for Frontier because they have very few flights of their own. Once such a situation happens, you have to stuck at the airport for long time.

It depends on the situation. I once had a flight cancelled from Sioux Falls to Denver. I was booked on frontier for Sioux Falls to Denver, and then on a separate itinerary for Denver - Spokane.
They gave me $400 to book any flight and I directly booked Sioux Falls - Spokane (without my frontier destination being spokane)
It all boils down to how to talk + attendant mood + current conditions.

Along with other airlines... this is probably way more. Percentage of failure is under .01% depending on how you analyze the data. Just giving it some perspective. That said, southwest allows you to change your flight if you do not want to fly on the Max.
