OK, to be fair. Dell refurbished laptop models are not bad at all, they were leased to large companies and usually high end series are provided. However, the cosmetic and some parts like screen, keyboard, etc are not in good shape and usually break here and there, now and then. If you are handy and do not care about those issues, the backbone of these systems are pretty decent. You can take advantage of the specs, the price, but you will not want to trust them when you need reliability from them.

These are garbage from lease. Buy from dell outlet, those are mostly in like new condition.

In the past 2 years I've bought 1 M4600, 1 E6230, 1 E5430, 1 T3500, 1 T1600, 3 U2410, and 3 other small displays from Dellrefurbished. All working in great condition, except the graphics card of M4600 broke after a few months. Replaced it with a new 1000M from ebay at 40 dollars.

Just received one refurbished Dell laptop. It is in very bad condition. Poor performance. Just stay away.

Too bad others had problems with Dell. I am not affiliated with Dell in anyway. In the past four years, I bought 9 laptops from Dell refurbished (1 Latitude E7240, 2 Latitude E6410, 1 Latitude E6420, 2 Latitude XT2, 2 Latitude E6220, 1 Precision M4600) for my family and friends. They are all working. With 1 E6410 and Precision M4600 battery went bad in a year, which I consider OK and replaced within 30 bucks from Amazon. No any other issues except E7240 has some ghost image issue in LCD which Dell technician stopped by and replaced quickly after I claimed. Both quality and service are great. I had a few Lenovo products as well, Dell customer service is better than Lenovo's.
I will recommend one buy the Grade A latitude series. They are (supposedly) good.

The problem was probably Windows, not the laptop. Maybe try Linux next time? //@Anonymous: Had an e series it is so bad, always crashes when doing windows update, freeze for no reason, dell will be dead for making such products.

Be very very careful of Dell refurbished items. From personal experience they have major display driver and graphics card issues. The prices may be attractive but do you due diligence about the specific model number and read multiple reviews online before buying.
