Be careful. There is delay in calling and receiving calls so you will have dropped calls. Lots of designed glitches to waste your time if you are good enough to get your money back.

This is an amazing deal. I've used FreedomPop for a few years actually, and their service has by far been the cheapest I could find! They even have a free plan you can downgrade to if you are a light user. I would at least recommend seeing what they have to offer, even if you're looking for a backup device.

Oh Gosh company has been fueling my personal business for years. I have purchased 20 cell phones for my sales staff. Key is just go in your Interface and downgrade to free plan if you want to. I suspect the haters on this thread are illiterate.

Yes they can charge your credit card in the future because you authorized multiple future payments. Even if your credit card expires they can still charge you as long as that account is still active. FP does not accept prepaid cards either. //@Anonymous: If use PayPal to pay the Sim, can they still charge you later?

Have to say that I started with the FreedomPop hotspot for my business back in the old Sprint days and it's been in the tech bag for my mobile office ever since.
From the free plan that gives my business a phone number and data line, to the 1000x3 plan that gives me everything I need for personal usage (once I start using WiFi where it's available) - I've saved $1000's since I switched.
Think about this one - a family of 4 on the best deals right now will be $100 a month - on FreedomPop it's $16.65 a month - that's $1000 a year back in your pocket!
FreedomPop saves you money and offers a great service plan for the average user.

Of course they charge you for any data you use over what they give you. You only get 200-700mb (spending on friends) on a free account. Use any more and they charge you same as any other limited plan. //@anonymous: I signed up and canceled when they keep charging for data they say its free its, not they charge you for data

Good deal. Be sure to connect with FreedomPop friends to get an extra 500 MB each month.

As long as you know that an account balance is required (as stated in the fine print) for downgrades, there are no other catches. Enjoy the free data!

I bought my first FreedomPop phone for my son. He was only 9 years old so I really didn’t want to spend much on a phone for him. This way, if he lost it, it wouldn’t be a big deal. It would also be a great way to give him a phone to use when he is out and about and learn how to be responsible for something like this before he reaches his teen years. In two years, he only lost is twice, but after he lost the second one, we found the first one. LOL. The service has been good, but not awesome. Good enough for a casual user.

You just need to familiarize yourself with FreedomPop's rules. I was hit with a surprise charge once, shortly after signing up for service 2 years ago, but after that I spent a couple minutes to learn their rules and haven't been surprised again.

very bad call quality, dont use it as primary line, it will be extremely frustrating. the company also does very shady practice to get money from you, for example, they purposely expire your credit balance every month.

I do 3 things to ensure I never get surprise bills: 1) on my phones I set monthly data limits that are slightly below my FreedomPop plans' monthly quotas; 2) on the FreedomPop web site, I disable "automatic top up" whenever possible, although not all plans let you do that; 3) I reactivate my account credit every 30 days.

They rip off customers.
I have never use their service, but they charged me $89.94, refuse to refund.
Half month before I received my SIM card, they already activated my account and start counting time towards my usage. Within a month, I have been calling their customer service, the call never get through, so I have to send email to request downgrade to free service. I have never activated the service. I was planning to try their service after my current plan with T-mobile end.

You will be reset to 500GB at the end of the billing period unless you pay extra to allow for data rollover. Of course, if I recall correctly, if you accumulate over 10GB of data they zero it out anyways and you have to start over. //@Anonymous: Will the free 500MB bonus be removed after downgrade?

I was wrong. The data limit is 20GB of stored data before they reset it, not 10GB. //@Anonymous: You will be reset to 500GB at the end of the billing period unless you pay extra to allow for data rollover. There was some charges but its due to my faults. They do have free plan 200 min, 500 text and 200Mb data. u just need to know how to set evrrything up for the free plan. Yhere is also a way to get 500 more MB data. Call quality varys depends on where. Home wifi works the best. Overall, its great free service. I dnt wanna pay more than 2 cents a month. They do charge 1 cent per month sometime

I paid 1 cent for the sim card, then managed to decline all non-free options, and end up getting absolutely free service of 200/500/700, with very good quality, in terms of both signal and service, although the CS usually takes a few days, but it is FREE! //@Anonymous: How much you pay? Be aware that when you downgrade your plan to free plan they will charge you $5 fee to cover the cost that you might overuse their data (even if you have more data left in your account during that time) and that money will not refund back to you.
