I have three printers HP 1100, HP 5 and HP p2015. First two are top loading and always paper jams; HP p2015 is really nightmare. This printer goes sleep mode and never wakes up.
I have another HP dvt desktop and capacitors on mother board started burning out (only two years), failed video and network cards.

Seriously....my girlfriend has a Pavalion 2000 and after a year or so the screen blacks out. HP replaced it for her...just so that it happens again 1.5 years later. Exact same problem!!! STAY AWAY FROM HP !!!

The quality of HP seems drop dramatically. I used a Compaq Presario 2886 ~7 years ago. That was rock-solid.

HP laptop is horrible. I had one before, I was trying to create a backup CD on the same day I bought the laptop from Best Buy. It freezes and crash in the middle of the backup process. I had it return.

I hope you guys DO NOT buy HP printers because it's so picky and lots of junk driver files are included. As you guys feel, after installing the driver CD, computer will slow down. Actually I like HP laptops but I hate HP printers. Another one thing is you should buy 3 years warranty offered laptops.

I had the screen problem with DELL Vostro 1500 after 1.5 year. I replaced lcd inverter and it worked only 1 week. I do not know what to buy next.

durability - lenovo thinkpads.
reliability - asus laptops.
gaming - alienware.
style - sony.
good customer support - dell.
cheap price - acer.
business - dell vostro/lenovo thinkpads.

here dell talks about structural integrity of a dell laptop compared to an hp laptop.

dell laptops have reinforced metal frame whereas hp's don't. if you carry your laptop around, dell would seem a better choice. however, this review was made by dell so take it with a grain of salt.
